교과목개요
The purpose of this course is to teach the students majoring in materials engineering
fundamental principles of general chemistry : intermolecular forces, liquid, soild,
properties of solution, chemical reaction kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases,
aqueous equilibria, chemical thermodynamics. Chemistry is central between physics and biology. It is crucial for modern civilized life. The students need help to develop these perspectives. I will stress the unique importance of chemistry as a science and an essential part of modern technology. Recently environmental concerns are greatly shown in the society. So, particular attention will be give to environmental chemistry. Also, concepts of modern materials will be introduced. Since materials recycling is very important these days, principles of chemical metallurgy will be taught briefly at the end of this course.
