Submarines have been dominant underwater vehicles for a long time. However, the recovery of torpedoes in 1950's and underwater oil and gas developments in 1980's initiated the developments of another types of underwater vehicles including ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle) and AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). In this lecture, brief histories of various underwater vehicles will be reviewed.
Design aspects of submarines including hydrostatics and weight-space relationships will be covered. Lectures on the ultimate limit state designs of structural members of submarines including ring-stiffened cylinders, conical shells and hemi- and tori-spheres are provided and details of submarine structural design will be introduced and design examples will be practiced. Characteristics of ROV and AUV including powering, geometric form and arrangements will also be covered in the lectures.

수업은 주요 내용에 대한 담당교수의 강의와 외부 전문가의 초청 강의로 진행하고 과제에 대한 조별 발표로 진행한다.
학습 성과 평가방법
중간고사, 기말고사의 성적, 평상시의 보고서 평가결과 및 출석율을 근거로 평가한다.
